Fantasy Jocks Company Logo

Fantasy Jocks combines smart products with elegant design and witty website copy.

Fantasy Jocks is a relatively new company in the fantasy draft board space, offering a surprisingly wide range of products for a newcomer.  Their investment in design and product line proves they're planning on being a major player for years to come.

In this review I'll evaluate Fantasy Jocks' various product offerings to help you determine if they're the right vendor for you and your league. I'll grade Fantasy Jocks based on the following categories:

  1. Product Quality & Scope
  2. Customization Options
  3. Freebies, Discounts, & Giveaways
  4. Website Design & Usability
  5. Price & Values

Finally, I'll combine each ranking category into an overall rating which can be compared to other vendors.

Product Quality & Scope

Fantasy Jocks categorizes their draft kits similar to a corporate organizational chart: the farther up you are on the corporate ladder, the more features are available.  The ideal kit for your league will likely be determined by the time remaining until your draft, whether or not you need to purchase prizes for your league, and how much you want to pamper your league owners at the draft party.  Let's review their four draft kit offerings.

1. The Intern

The Intern Fantasy Draft Board Kit

The Intern can be downloaded and printed.

  • A printable .pdf draft board supporting 12 teams and up to 24 rounds
  • A printable .pdf of 500 player labels

With The Intern you don't actually get a physical draft board shipped through the mail.  Instead you get a soft copy of a draft board and player labels, downloadable as .pdf files.  This product is primarily geared toward owners who do not have the time to order and receive a physical board via snail mail.  Instead, owners who order this kit can print the documents at companies such Staples, Kinkos, or Office Depot and have a physical draft board in their hands on the same day it was purchased.

At $14.99, the cheapskate in you is probably thinking that The Intern may be good way to save a few bucks.  That actually isn't the case once you consider the price to buy labels (roughly $10) and have the board printed (about $20).  By the time you factor in your time and gas to have the board printed, you'd end up paying way more than their Custodian Kit which we'll discuss next.

While The Intern is nice option if you procrastinated and failed to purchase a physical kit in time for the draft, it is not a money saver.  Only purchase this kit if you have no other options.  If you're ordering your draft board well in-advance of your draft, your best bet is to consider one of their physical kits.

2. The Custodian Kit

The Custodian Draft Kit

The Custodian is an entry-level draft board package.

  • 10/12/14/16 teams for up to 24 rounds
  • Over 500 player labels
  • A free koozie for the League Commissioner

Most leagues looking for a standard board will find the perfect package with the Custodian Kit.  This kit includes space for enough teams and rounds to accommodate the vast majority of fantasy leagues.  Over 500 color-coded player labels are included and as a bonus the League Commissioner gets a free koozie.

But don't be fooled by the name, these are quality boards printed on 24lb high-quality paper.  Also, the color-coded player stickers are wider than your average labels, stretching a full four inches.

3. The Manager Kit

The Manager Fantasy Draft Board Kit

The Manager adds flare and extras.

  • 10/12/14/16 teams up to 24 Rounds
  • Over 500 player labels
  • Countdown timer
  • Trucker hat for the League Commissioner
  • Koozies for the entire league

For their next draft kit package, Fantasy Jocks skipped the blue collar workers and jumped right to The Manager.  Just as corporate managers must keep his underlings happy, The Manager kit builds on The Custodian by adding extras for your draft and league owners.

The Manager includes the same draft board and labels from The Custodian kit, but ups the ante with koozies for the entire league, a commissioner hat, and a countdown timer. The additional $23 you'll pay for this upgrade is well worth the price to spice-up your league and impress your owners.

Free Drink Koozie

4. The Executive Kit

The Executive Fantasy Draft Board Kit

The Executive kit addressed all league needs.

  • 10/12/14/16 teams for up to 24 Rounds
  • Over 500 player labels
  • Countdown timer
  • Trucker hat for the League Commissioner
  • Koozies for the entire league
  • Championship trophy
  • Loser (Horse's Ass) Trophy

For those leagues which are looking for a one-stop shop to purchase both a draft board and league prizes, The Executive is a great deal. In one fail swoop you can purchase everything to cover the entire fantasy season from the draft through the championship.

In addition to including everything from The Manager package, The Executive boasts trophies for both your league champion and loser.  These trophies can be passed around from year to year, but there is not enough space on the name plates to etch the names of multiple winners.  So you'll more than likely need to replace the trophies each year.

Other Products

In addition to draft boards, Fantasy Jocks also sells trophies, championship rings, championship belts, t-shirts, and more. They also offer baseball and basketball draft boards and kits.

Customization Options

Fantasy Jocks doesn't offer many board customization options. Their product line is straight-forward and aimed at capturing the needs of basic leagues looking for a solid product. The one customization option Fantasy Jocks does provide is IDP labels, available for an extra $10.

Freebies, Discounts, & Giveaways

Rick Flair Video Contest

All boards shipped from Fantasy Jocks come with a marker, tape, and free koozie for the League Commissioner. The base price for a standard board (i.e. The Custodian) is slightly higher than the average vendor, so you'll have to decide if the extras make up for that. If you own a business and will be hosting multiple drafts, their bulk packages include a free window sign to advertise draft parties at your establishment.

This season, Fantasy Jocks is also holding a contest to win one of their coveted fantasy football championship belts.  How can you enter the contest?  Simply don your best pro wrestling persona to challenge the chumps in your fantasy league, explaining why you deserve to be the uncontested fantasy football champion of your league.  Check out this video for an example of the type of trash-talk they're seeking.

Website Design & Usability

It's obvious that Fantasy Jocks invested heavily in a website design that is intuitive and user-friendly.  The user interface is simple but elegant and finding the product you need is always a click or two away, making shopping a breeze.

The best website feature of all is the witty copy.  Each page has an humorous anecdote or funny observation which makes for enjoyable shopping.  Overall it's a great experience and the best aspect of this vendor.

Price and Value

For Commissioners

For a standard 12-team, 15-round draft Fantasy Jocks has one of the highest-priced boards compared to their competitors. If you're looking to splurge and want to impress your fellow owners, their Middle Manager package will likely earn you some brownie points. Those owners looking for a single vendor to fill their draft and league prize needs also get a nice deal through their Executive kit as well.

For Business Owners

If you own a business and are looking to buy draft boards in bulk, Fantasy Jocks offers discounted rates when ordering boards in quantities of 25, 50, 75, or 100. The more kits you order, the better discount you receive. As previously mentioned, they will also throw-in a window-sticker to help with your draft party promotion.

Conclusion

Fantasy Jocks has a nice range of products and their website is intuitive and easy to operate. Their draft kits would most benefit Commissioners who are looking to go the extra mile and impress their owners.

While their board offerings are a little pricy, you get considerable bang for your buck as you upgrade through their premium kits. If you're looking for a 1-stop shop for both a draft board and some extras for your league draft party, then Fantasy Jocks is the company for you.
