The Buffalo Bills started off on fire at 5 - 1. Since then, their playoff hopes and entire season has gone up in smoke.
Iām a Bills fan. I live in Buffalo. This team is the heart and soul of the entire community. Weāve stood in the freezing rain, swirling snow and unheard of temperatures in order to cheer on our hometown team. And what do we have to show for it? A 6-7 record and a team that plays with neither heart nor enthusiasm.
Did anyone see the Buffalo Bulls upset Ball State last Friday? If only the Bills had half as much faith and heart as they do. And donāt even get me started on Dick Jauron. The guy has no emotion whatsoever. When I watch other coaches on the sidelines, I see them interacting with players. I see them cheering. I see them jawing someone out. And when I look at Jauron, I see him standing quietly on the sidelines with a catatonic look on his face as if he has no earthly idea of what he is doing there.
The Buffalo Bills have falls so far and so fast that, when I look around the NFL, Iām convinced they are the worst team in football.
That is the new poll question: Are the Buffalo Bills the worst team in the NFL?
(Donāt forget to cast your vote in the poll!)
My argument is this: The Bills stink to high heaven. They have mediocre talent and young players. They have an offensive coordinator who passes on first and goal when heās got one of the toughest and most determined running backs in the league at his disposal. They have poor clock management and even worse decision making. Their head coach neither smiles when they score nor frowns when they donāt. How can we expect the players to play with emotion when the head coach has none? They have a marketing guru as a so-called GM. The owner is more focused on selling the team than he is about building it up for the future. I could go on. But I wonāt. Instead, Iāll compare the Bills to other league-leading horrible teams.
The Detroit Lions may not have won a single game all season. But at least they score points. The Bills have put a lousy six points in the last two games and havenāt scored a touchdown in eight quarters of play.
The Kansas City Chiefs are bad, but itās not because of a lack of talent. They have the players, but they are young. They need some time to grow up a bit. Weāve seen glimpses of that. Get a sold quarterback who can team up with Gonzales and Bowe and youāll see some sparks.
Cincinnati is a mess but at least they play with some heart and emotion. I could say the same thing about St. Louis, Seattle and Cleveland. I think that is what bothers me the most about the Bills. The players just donāt seem to care. And thatās a slap in the face to Buffalo fans.
Right now, the only thing this team has going for them ARE the fans. But it doesnāt matter how loud we cheer or how much we believe. The players have to believe as well. The coaches have to believe. And the owner does, too.
The only thing anyone seems to ābelieveā in together is that this team has completely self-destructed.
The results of the Favre poll are in! The question was: Do the Packers regret dealing Brett Favre? Most of you think yes, they do. And since the Packers are 5-8 this season, I can understand why.
